President’s Message – December 2018

President’s Message

(December 2018)

This year is quickly coming to a close and our club has accomplished much this year. As in past years I want to highlight some of our major accomplishments which includes the following: landscaped the skeet fields, Spring cleanup day, 3 handgun shoots, purchased new gas grill, Vintage Shoot, Silver Dollar Registered Skeet Shoot, Braggin Rights Shoot, hired cleaning service, provided lunch for the Landfill crew, and purchased voice calls for the two trap fields. I think it was a very successful year. Thanks to all of you for making these projects attainable and successful.

The invoices for the 2019 membership dues will be sent during the first week of December. Payment has to be received by February 1, 2019 in order to continue your membership. Payment received after February 1, 2019 will not be accepted. In order to be reinstated, a new membership application will be required with a check for $175.00.

Club member Jeff Celletti has volunteered to run a trap league next spring at our club. Additional details will be forthcoming in the first quarter of the new year. Please consider joining and think about forming your 5 man teams.

It is again requested that the envelops for depositing all money/checks be FILLED OUT COMPLETELY  so as to give the proper credit to the depositor and for keeping our financial books complete and accurate.

WINTER SHOOTING RULES – Trap and skeet fields and sidewalks are to be cleared of snow before shooting. Shovels are outside of the club house and in the storage barn. Two snow blowers are available for use and are located in the storage barn. Do not shoot on fields that have not been cleared of snow. Doing so will compact the snow and make it difficult to remove. It is everyone’s job to pitch in to remove snow and ice (salt is located in the club house storage closet) from the sidewalks and shooting fields. As always, gun cases are not permitted in the club house. Guns will be permitted, but it is strongly suggested that they only be kept inside if it is raining or snowing.

The BOD will be taking nominations for the positions of Vice President, Treasurer and three directorships starting in January. I encourage anyone that is interested to put their name in the ha

The board of directors will be setting the clubs projects and events for 2019. If you have any suggestions, please let me or any board member know what you are thinking.

If anyone is interested in getting certified for the handgun range, please contact Milt Schwanke at 815-988-2278, George Ketter at 815-456-2871, or Caleb Davis at 815-243-1483. You will need to bring a handgun, ammo, eye and ear protection and a $25.00 annual fee.

President’s Message – November 2018

President’s Message

(Nov. 2018)

A special meeting was held on Saturday Oct. 27 for the purpose of getting members input on compensating Board members. Approximately 20 members were in attendance and were in favor of compensating the Board of Directors (BOD) their annual membership dues including the pistol range fee.  Also several members responded favorably via email. In fact, there was no opposition expressed in the meeting or by email. The meeting was an advisory meeting only and an official vote was not taken. As a result of this feedback, the BOD voted to approve the compensation on Monday, November 5 during the monthly BOD meeting.

We held our annual Braggin Rights Shoot on Saturday Oct. 27. Eighteen shooters participated. The winners are: 1st – George Kette, 2nd – Lance Vidlak, 3rd – Greg Baylander. It was hoped that more members would participate. Low turnout seems to be a trend with the various club shoots that we host every year and is very disappointing. Unless we can get more members to participate, the BOD is considering suspending all club shoots. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions as to how we can get more participation please talk to me or any board member. Even if you don’t win, these events are an excellent opportunity to shoot the various venues (trap, skeet, 5-stand) meet and socialize with other members, and get a nice lunch.

The invoices for the 2019 membership dues will be sent during the first week of December. Payment has to be received by February 1, 2019 in order to continue your membership. Payment received after February 1, 2019 will not be accepted. In order to be reinstated, a new membership application will be required with a check for $175.00.

President’s Message – October 2018

President’s Message

(Oct. 2018)

The Board of Directors is calling a special meeting on Saturday Oct. 27 at 8:30 am at the club. This is a single purpose meeting to get members input on compensating Board members their dues for serving on the Board. A lot of time and energy is involved in being a member of Board. Some of the time consuming tasks are: collecting rounds fees and depositing them on a weekly basis, Treasurer duties such as paying all bills and coordinating with the accountants. Other duties include keeping the club house supplied with beverages, cleaning supplies, water, toiletries, and paper products, maintaining the membership list, working special projects and the list goes on. Your input is valued in helping decide what is best for the club. Please make an effort to attend.

The installation of a sidewalk on skeet field 1 from station 4 to station 8 and walkways from the skeet semi-circle to the high house stairs on all three skeet fields will be installed in the spring of 2019 and not in the fall of this year as previously stated

The BOD is also considering the installation of black top from the barn to the main parking lot. We will get bids and if approved work will be done in the spring.

The annual steak lunch for the landfill folks was held on September 21. It went well and the guys and gals enjoyed themselves and went away stuffed.

The course will consist of one round of skeet, trap, and 5-stand. Lunch will be served at 11:30. The cost is $5.00 plus the cost of three rounds.

Please break down empty target boxes before placing them into the dumpsters. This will help in preventing over flow of the dumpsters as the garbage is collect weekly.

The organized Thursday night 5-stand shoots have come to an end for the winter and will be started back up in the spring.

If anyone is interested in getting certified for the handgun range, please contact Milt Schwanke at 815-988-2278, George Ketter at 815-456-2871, or Caleb Davis at 815-243-1483. You will need to bring a handgun, ammo, eye and ear protection, and a $25.00 annual fee.

The club has hired a cleaning service that will clean the club house once a month. This does not mean that we do not have to pick up after ourselves, vacuum when needed, and empty the garbage cans when full. In other words, we all need to help keep the place clean.

We have some new hats for sale at $20.00 each. They are located in the book case on the back wall of the club house. If you buy a hat, please put the money in an envelope that is on the log book desk and put the envelope, duly marked, in the deposit drawer.
