President’s Message – January 2018

President’s Message

(January 2018)

The Club dues invoices have been mailed. Please let me know if you did not receive one. You can respond to this message or send me an email at sam.valenza@att.net. Dues have to be paid by February 1, 2018. If payment is not received by this date, memberships will be terminated and can only be reinstated by reapplying for membership and paying the new membership fee of $175.00. Please be sure to fill out the invoice form in full when making a payment. This is the only way we have of insuring that your contact and FOID data is up to date.

The club had another good year thanks to all or our members. We are doing very well financially and our membership was at an all-time high last year with 278 members versus 273 in 2016.

The 2018 club budget has been approved and will be posted in the club house.

If you are interested in running for the Board of Directors for the positions of president, secretary, and three directors or want to make a nomination, please contact Gino Nizzi at 815-572-5625 or e-mail him at mxkied2@comcast.net. Nominations are due by February 1, 2017 and elections will be held in March 2017.

Rounds shot for 2017 by venue are as follows. These numbers are about the same as in 2016.

  • Trap – 2734 rounds (23 %)
  • Skeet – 8356 rounds (70%)
  • 5 Stand/Sporting Clays – 797 rounds (7%)

WINTER SHOOTING RULES

Trap and skeet fields and sidewalks are to be cleared of snow before shooting. Shovels are outside of the club house and in the storage barn. Two snow blowers are available for use and are located in the storage barn. Do not shoot on fields that have not been cleared of snow. Doing so will compact the snow and make it difficult to remove. It is everyone’s job to pitch in to remove snow from the sidewalks and shooting fields. As always, gun cases are not permitted in the club house. Guns will be permitted, but it is strongly suggested that they only be kept inside if it is raining or snowing.

If anyone is interested in getting certified for the handgun range, please contact Don Lyddon at 815-877-0754 or Milt Schwanke at 815-988-2278. You will need to bring a handgun, ammo, eye and ear protection, and a $25.00 annual fee.
