President’s Message
(February 2018)
The Club dues payment deadline was February 1, 2018. If you have not paid your dues your membership has been terminated and can only be reinstated by reapplying for membership and paying the new membership fee of $175.00.
With sadness I report that club member and handgun range safety officer, Don Lyddon, died on February 1, 2018 after a skiing accident in Solden, Austria. The visitation service will be held at Fred C. Olsen Chapel (1001 Second Ave., Rockford) on Thursday February 15 from 3 to 7 pm. Don will certainly be missed as he was a valued contributor to our club.
The nominations period for the open positions on the Board of Direction has passed. The electronic ballots and the US mailed ballots to those that do not have an email address on file will be sent out by the end of next week
Our annual meeting is on Saturday March 31, 2018 at 9am at the club. The BOD will be addressing club finances, shooting metrics, events and projects, election results, and taking questions from the attendees.
WINTER SHOOTING RULES
Trap and skeet fields and sidewalks are to be cleared of snow before shooting. Shovels are outside of the club house and in the storage barn. Two snow blowers are available for use and are located in the storage barn. Do not shoot on fields that have not been cleared of snow. Doing so will compact the snow and make it difficult to remove. It is everyone’s job to pitch in to remove snow from the sidewalks and shooting fields. As always, gun cases are not permitted in the club house. Guns will be permitted, but it is strongly suggested that they only be kept inside if it is raining or snowing.
If anyone is interested in getting certified for the handgun range, please contact Milt Schwanke at 815-988-2278. You will need to bring a handgun, ammo, eye and ear protection, and a $25.00 annual fee.
