President’s Message – Dec. 2017

President’s Message

(December 2017)

This year is quickly coming to a close and our club has accomplished much this year. As in past year I want to highlight some of our major accomplishments which include replacing the cement pads and walk on all three skeet fields, replacing the trap machine on trap field 1, purchase of an automated external defibrillator, installed three pulley systems on the handgun range, additional gravel for the storage barn parking area, seal coated the parking lot, and purchased a new radar gun. We also held the Vintage/other gun shoot, Old Geezer Shoot, Silver Dollar registered skeet shoot, and had an appreciation lunch for the Landfill crew. I think it was a very successful year. Thanks to all of you for making these project attainable and successful.

The Club dues invoice for 2018 will be mailed in the next week or so. Dues have to be paid by February 1, 2018. If payment is not received by this date, memberships will be terminated and can only be reinstated by reapplying for membership and paying the new membership fee of $175.00. Please be sure to fill out the invoice form in full when making a payment. This is the only way we have of insuring that your contact and FOID data is up to date.

In January the Board of Directors will be planning our 2018 projects and events. If you have any ideas that you would like the board to considered, please contact me or any board member.

WINTER SHOOTING RULES

Trap and skeet fields and sidewalks are to be cleared of snow before shooting. Shovels are outside of the club house and in the storage barn. Two snow blowers are available for use and are located in the storage barn. Do not shoot on fields that have not been cleared of snow. Doing so will compact the snow and make it difficult to remove. It is everyone’s job to pitch in to remove snow from the sidewalks and shooting fields. As always, gun cases are not permitted in the club house. Guns will be permitted, but it is strongly suggested that they only be kept inside if it is raining or snowing.

If anyone is interested in getting certified for the handgun range, please contact Don Lyddon at 815-877-0754 or Milt Schwanke at 815-988-2278. You will need to bring a handgun, ammo, eye and ear protection, and a $25.00 annual fee.
