The club Board of Director has revised the Coronavirus Guidelines and they are as follows. Your cooperation in following these guidelines will help in preventing the spread of the virus.

State and club guidelines shall be followed in order to help prevent the spread of the virus. As a shooting club, we have to maintain a culture of safety in all aspects for all club members as well as those of our community and state. Given the age demographics and active participation of club members in all of our club operations, these guidelines shall to be followed. These guidelines are subject to revision as conditions change.

Club Coronavirus Guidelines

• Maintain social distancing of six feet
• Masks are not required
• Wash/sanitize hands frequently
• When coughing cover mouth and cough into bend in elbow
• Use the provided wipes/hand sanitizer to clean surfaces and remotes
• If sick for any reason or someone in your household is sick, and/or have an underlying health condition stay home.
• No shooting bags are permitted in the club house
• Clubhouse is open for bathroom use, drinks, logging rounds, and for cooling off due to the heat. A maximum of 10 people are allowed in the club house at any given time.
• Bring chairs to sit outside if desired. Club house chairs are not to be used outside.
• Food is not to be prepared in the club house.
• Soda and water are now available in the club house and coffee can be made
• If you have hand sanitizers, please bring them with you and use them often.
• Only one person is allowed in the machine houses at any given time
• Logging rounds (use your personal pen/pencil)
• Sanitize hands before and after recording rounds in the log books
• Skeet
• Three person squads are recommended with a designated puller. However five person squads are permitted with no designated puller
• Sanitize remotes after each use with provided wipes/hand sanitizer. DO NOT remove remotes from plastic bag.
• Trap
• 5 person squads are permitted
• Limit interpersonal contact maintaining social distancing when setting up and closing fields.
• Sanitize remotes before storing with provided wipes/hand sanitizer
• 5 stand
• 5 person squads are permitted
• Sanitize remotes after each use with provided wipes/hand sanitizer.
• Handgun range
• An empty lane is recommended to be maintained between shooters. However, all lanes can be used at any given time.

July 18 will be the next pistol shoot. It will be good guy bad guy targets with 32 shots. Relays will be at 9:10 and 11 with 8 shooters per relay. If you have not signed up and are interested in shooting this event please call George at 815-456-2871 or email him.

The BOD is considering have a free of charge pig roast in the fall provided that we can get enough members, their immediate family and grandchildren to attend. A survey will be sent out asking who and how many of your family will attend. It is tentatively planned for October 10 and I will provide more details as that date approaches.

The club has been open since May 1 and all seems to be well. I just want to remind you that the club virus guidelines are still in force until further notice. The board asks that all members and guests continue to follow them. The guidelines are as follows.

Club Coronavirus Guidelines

• Wash/sanitize hands frequently
• When coughing cover mouth and cough into bend in elbow
• Use the provided wipes/hand sanitizer to clean surfaces and remotes
• If sick for any reason or someone in your household is sick, and/or have an underlying health condition stay home.
• No shooting bags are permitted in the club house or on the benches and tables outside. Work from your vehicles.
• Clubhouse is closed except to use bathrooms and logging rounds. No gathering in the Club house.
• Bring chairs to sit outside if desired. Club house chairs are not to be used outside.
• Food is not to be prepared in the club house. Do not make coffee in the club house.
• Soda and water sales are suspended until further notice. Bring your own water, soda and snacks.
• If you have hand sanitizers, please bring them with you and use them often.
• One person only in the machine houses when reloading machines at the end of shooting.
• Logging rounds options (use your personel pen/pencil)
• Option 1: sanitize hands before and after recording rounds in log book
• Option 2: keep a personal log and formally record rounds in log book once a month.
• Skeet
• No more than 3 person squads per skeet field with designated puller who is responsible for sanitizing remote.
• Sanitize the remotes after each use with provided wipes/hand sanitizer. DO NOT remove remotes from plastic bag.
• Please utilize all three fields to avoid congregating.

The parking lot will be seal coated sometime in June. Once I have a firm date, I will notify you as the club will be closed on that day.

Due to the Coronavirus we have had to cancel/reschedule several events which includes the annual meeting, cleanup day, club fun day, registered skeet shoot, and the trap and pistol leagues. Some of these events have been rescheduled and some have been cancelled for the year as shown below in the 2020 club events.

We will be having periodic fun pistol shoots and will be following our virus guidelines with only four shooters in the range building at one time. The first shoot is this coming Saturday June 6 with the first four person squad starting at 9:30 am. If you have not signed up and are interested in shooting this event please call George Ketter at 815-456-2871.

We are also planning to start a trap league in the fall provided the virus conditions are acceptable. I will provide details in the August timeframe. Jeff Celletti, 815-713-6320, is the chairman of the league.

ILLINOIS STATE POLICE DIRECTOR FILES EMERGENCY RULES
REGARDING FOID AND CCL RENEWALS

Springfield, IL – The Illinois State Police filed emergency rules this week to address renewals of Firearm Owner Identification and Concealed Carry Licenses during the COVID-19 epidemic. These rules are designed to provide FOID card holders and CCL relief from the renewal requirements during the effects of COVID-19 pandemic. These rule changes are as follows:
 FOID card holders, who submit their renewal application will remain valid during the duration of the state’s disaster proclamation and for a period of 12 months following the termination of the disaster, even if their renewal application is/was not submitted prior to expiration.
 CCL licensees, who submit their renewal application, will remain valid during the duration of the state’s disaster proclamation and for a period of 12 months following its termination, even if their CCL renewal application was not submitted prior to expiration.
 CCL licensees will not be required to immediately submit proof of three-hour training with their CCL renewal application.
 CCL licensees will need to submit proof of their three-hour renewal training within 12 months following the termination of the state’s disaster proclamation in order to maintain the validity of their CCL license.

ISP will continue to enforce both FOID and CCL prohibitors. FOID card holders who receive
revocation notices shall return their FOID and Firearm Disposition Record form to the Illinois State Police. CCL holders who receive revocation notices shall return their CCL license to the Illinois State Police.

These new rules are effective immediately. 

The Rockford Skeet Club will be following the state and federal conronavirus guides and will remain closed through April 30, 2020. The board of directors will reevaluate the virus conditions at that time and I will advise you of our decision to open or remain closed.

The Board of Directors (BOD) has decided that the Rockford Skeet Club will remain open during this coronavirus pandemic. However, state guidelines, as listed below, shall be followed in order to help prevent the spread of the virus. The BOD has decided to postpone the annual meeting scheduled for March 28, 2020. Also, the start of the handgun league scheduled to start March 28 and the trap league scheduled to start April 15 will be postpone to future undetermined start dates.

• No gathering of more than 10 people in the club house
• It is recommended that no more than 3 shooters at a venue/field

(March 2020)

Our annual meeting is on Saturday March 31, 2020 at 9am at the club. The board of directors will be addressing club finances, events and projects, election results, and will take questions from the attendees.

 As I have previously communicated the club is sponsoring a handgun and a trap league. The following are the details.

• The handgun league starts on March 28 at 9 am.
• There will be one shoot a month through October.
• One month will be paper targets the next month will be steel targets.
• No rim fire guns/ammunition
• There is a $5.00 fee per shoot with all monies going back to the shooters in the form of pistol ammunition minus .50 cent for targets, pasters, and staples.
• Signup is required by March 21.
• Safety First. Hearing protection and safety glasses are required.
• Consumption of any alcohol during or prior to shooting is strictly prohibited.

• League starts April 15
• Teams will consist of 3 individuals
• 1 round of trap, 1 round of wobble
• Fees per round are $4 for members, $5.00 for non-members.
• One time sponsor/trophy fee is $10 per person.
• League night is every Wednesday 5 PM-8 PM
• There will be a trophy for each individual on the 1st place team
• There will also be a trophy for high gun
• League will last a total of 10 weeks
• Banquet with food and awards (Date TBD)

• A shooter will receive 1 misfire per round, subsequent misfires will result in a loss bird

In the event of a premature bird, if you shoot and miss, it will be considered a loss bird.

• A shooter may shoot a week in advance if an absence is anticipated

• Safety First. Hearing protection and safety glasses are required.
• Consumption of any alcohol prior to shooting is strictly prohibited.
• A shoot may be canceled by the league committee because of weather. Mass texts will be sent out in the event of a cancellation.
